Del Lago Resort & Casino is a $404 million, 94,000-square-foot casino resort in Waterloo, Seneca County, upstate New York, in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region. It is an easy drive from upstate and western New York.

The casino opened in 2017, a year after construction began on the 205-room resort in a cornfield in Seneca County. Now, a majestic facility rises just off Exit 41 of the New York State Thruway, a short distance from the Waterloo Premium Outlets.

Del Lago Resort & Casino is home to over 1,700 popular slot and video poker machines, 66 table games, and 14 poker tables with non-stop action. The slot machines range from penny slots to those where a pull of the lever costs $100.

Del Lago Resort & Casino history and current owners

Del Lago Resort & Casino was one of the first four upstate commercial casinos to receive a license after the Empire State authorized gambling facilities other than tribal ones.

Thomas Wilmot of Wilmorite Properties and Iowa-based JNB Gaming pitched the casino to the authorities. It was the promise of more than 1,500 construction jobs and 1,500 steady casino jobs that brought the project to fruition. The founders estimated more than $263 million in gambling revenues per year, according to the New York State Gaming Commission.

The casino met strong opposition from tribal casinos in the Finger Lakes area, which feared that commercial casinos would endanger their livelihoods. Regardless, del Lago Resort & Casino opened in 2017, with Gov. Andrew Cuomo cutting the ribbon.

Over the years, the ownership structure of the casino changed. A California investment company ? Peninsula Pacific Entertainment ? acquired the remaining 50% stake from the Wilmot family in 2019 to become the sole owner.
