Caesars Atlantic City history and current owners
Caesars Atlantic City first opened its doors to the public on June 26, 1979. Originally operating as Boardwalk Regency, it sprung from the former Howard Johnson?s Regency Motor Hotel, which was in business between 1966 and 1977. Caesars purchased it immediately after.
In 1983, the owner changed the property?s name to Caesars Boardwalk Regency. Two years later, Caesars renovated the venue, adding the Circus Maximus Showroom with 1,100 seats. Another name change came in 1987 when the resort got its present name ? Caesars Atlantic City.
Further renovations ensued in the following decades, including the revamping of the property?s exterior to match the Roman theme of the interior. In 1997, Caesars added the Centurion Tower with 610 rooms and 65 floors.
The year 2017 saw a change of hands for the resort. Vici Properties bought the real estate, but Caesars Entertainment leased it back, remaining its operator to this day.
