The construction of the casino began in 2005 and finished in 2007, with the grand opening on Feb. 28. The casino?s initial owner was MTR Gaming, which later merged with Eldorado Resorts. Eldorado sold Presque Isle Downs & Casino to Churchill Downs in January 2019 for $178.9 million. Later that year, in August, the casino introduced a sportsbook.
