Valley Forge Casino history and current owners

The casino started somewhat controversially, with the construction site being firebombed in 1972 because J. Leon Altemose, who was in charge of the project, didn?t want to use union workers.

The first structures included the Sheraton-Valley Forge Hotel, a twin cinema, and an executive office tower. Later, many other buildings sprung up, although the entire facility wasn?t gambling-oriented. It officially converted into a casino resort in 2012, becoming the first property to receive a Category 3 license from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

Boyd Gaming purchased the property in 2018 for $281 million. It added sports betting in 2019 after the property joined forces with FanDuel.
