Cordish And Caesars’ 223-Acre Development Near Harrah?s Pompano Beach

Popular Florida casino Harrah’s Pompano Beach is going to get new neighbors.

This week, The Cordish Companies and Harrah’s owner Caesars Entertainment announced plans for The Pomp, a 223-acre retail development. The Pomp will be home to entertainment, retail, dining, residential housing, offices and Harrah’s Pompano Beach.

The Cordish Companies Principal Blake Cordish said in a statement:

“It’s incredibly exciting for The Cordish Companies to continue advancing this game-changing project with our partners at Caesars Entertainment. The Pomp represents one of the most dynamic opportunities for placemaking in the United States. There is no comparable development in South Florida that combines casino gaming with best-in-class entertainment, retail, dining, hotel, residential, office and lifestyle amenities into one dynamic destination.”

Developments’ sprawling offerings draw praise of the mayor

In real estate vocabulary, The Pomp is a &ldq
uo;mixed-use” development. Basically, that means you can eat, drink, work, and live at The Pomp. Here’s how that will look at The Pomp, according to The Cordish Companies:

• 25,000 square feet of dining, which will include popular concept brands like Sports & Social and PBR Cowboy Bar
• A Topgolf facility
• 4,000 luxury residential units
• Two hotels
• 1.35 million square feet of office space

Anchoring the new development will be Cordishes Live! branding which, according to the company, draws in more than 55 million visitors a year at various Live! locations across the country.

And because the mix of business and residential opportunities will be a popular destination, Harrah’s stands to benefit from increased traffic from locals and visitors.

Pompano Beach Mayor Rex Harding called the project “incredible”. And he noted it will have a long-term positive impact on the area. Hardin said:

“Caesars is known for their energetic gaming destinations, and Cordish has a successful track record of developing and operating dynamic mixed-use properties that spur community revitalization. The Pomp and Live! will not only attract millions of visitors to our city annually, it will also create thousands of jobs for Pompano Beach and South Florida residents, leaving a lasting positive impact on our city and region.”

Caesars president says The Pomp will be a unique destination

The development plans come after Caesers completed a renovation and rebrand of its Florida casino at Pompano Beach.

Caesars Entertainment President Anthony Carano said the company is ready to make The Pomp a standalone experience for visitors.

“Building off the success of our newly remodeled and rebranded Harrah’s Pompano Beach casino, we are committed to delivering a one-of-a-kind entertainment and lifestyle destination, unlike anything in South Florida, that will provide the best in gaming, world-class amenities and attract new visitors to the dynamic area,” Carano said in a Cision PR Newswire press release.

South Florida development one of many recent moves for Cordish

The Cordish Companies has made a name for itself in the casino industry the past few years. In December, the company announced a Live! entertainment and gaming district in Petersburg, Virginia. The development will include Petersburg’s first casino.

Cordish is also playing a big role in the revival of Diamond Jacks Casino & Hotel in Bossier City, Lousiana. The casino closed during the pandemic and never re-opened.

Cordish plans to reopen the casino in 2025 via a $250 million redevelopment plan.
