NFL And NBA Celebs Tee Off In The Match At Wynn Las Vegas
The Match returns to Wynn Las Vegas on Thursday, June 29 at 3:30 pm PT (6:30 ET). The next version of the made-for-tv golf event pits championship-winning teammates from NFL and NBA teams against each other.
Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs will take on Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors in the next edition of The Match. Once again this will be a 12-Hole golf event that will air on TNT.
In addition to being a fun golf event on TV, there’s a charitable component to The Match. The event has raised $35 million for various organizations to date. More than 27 million meals have been donated to Feeding America.
The Match is growing beyond its TV roots. This is becoming a popular live event in Las Vegas as a limited number of tickets are available to the public.
The Match returns to Las Vegas for a third time
The first running of The Match took place at Shadow Creek Golf Course in North Las Vegas in 2018. The event featured Tiger Woods versus Phil Mickelson.
Mickelson won the 18-hole golf match in extra holes. He also won three of the five bets the duo placed during the event.
Different lineups for The Match have taken place in Arizona, Florida, Montana, and, of course, Las Vegas. This will be the third time The Match will take place at Wynn Golf Club located at the Las Vegas casino.
Mahomes participated in an all-NFL edition of The Match at Wynn last year. He and Josh Allen lost to Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers.
In 2020, Curry lost The Match played in Arizona when he was teamed with Payton Manning. They lost 4 and 3 to Mickelson and Charles Barkley.
In 2021, Brooks Koepka defeated rival Bryson DeChambeau 5 and 3 at Wynn Golf Club.
This year The Match pits two of the most likable teammates from the NBA and NFL against one another. Mahomes and Curry have both won two Most Valuable Player Awards in their respective sports.
The NFL duo has won two Super Bowls. Mahomes won the MVP of both NFL title games. Meanwhile, Curry and Thompson have led the Warriors to four NBA titles. Curry won his first NBA Finals MVP Award last year.
About the Wynn Golf Club
Wynn Golf Club is the only golf course that is integrated into a Vegas Strip resort. The golf course was originally part of Dunes Hotel and Casino.
The course was designed for Wynn by Tom Fazio in 2005. He was brought on to update the course in 2019.
Wynn’s golf course is 6,722 yards and par is 70. While it’s a championship-length golf course it should be playable for golfers of all skill levels.
The unique golf course on the Vegas Strip is one of the few locations on the tourist corridor with real grass, trees, and water. Some of the 8,000 trees are originally from the Dunes golf course. 12 of the 18 holes on Wynn’s golf course feature some kind of water.

Wynn representatives view events like The Match as a promotional vehicle for the brand and property. The TV show provides hours of content at the property.
A limited number of fans can watch The Match in person. This is a good way to bring golf fans to the property and share their experience on social media and via word of mouth.
The Match is sponsored by Capital One. Certain cardholders will have first access to purchase a limited number of tickets to see The Match in person at Wynn Las Vegas.
