Massachusetts Sports Betting Now Live At Three Locations

After years of legislative hearings, constant discussion and rounds of speculation, Massachusetts sports betting has officially arrived. For now, sports betting is limited to in-person only at three casinos in Massachusetts.

Those locations are:

1. Encore Boston Harbor (WynnBet)
2. MGM Springfield (BetMGM)
3. Plainridge Park (Barstool)

All three locations began taking bets on Jan. 31 at 10 a.m. Although online sports betting is coming to Bay State, there is still no firm launch date on the books. 

Massachusetts sports betting launches just in time for Super Bowl LVII

The Philadelphia Eagles will face the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII. And for the first time in history, Massachusetts residents can legally bet on the game. 

Super Bowl betting is by far the single largest betting day each year. According to the American Gaming Association (AGA), Americans gambled about $7.6 billion on Super Bowl 56. With legal, regulated sports betting in 32 states, the amount gambled on the big game will undoubtedly increase. 

Below is more information about the 3 casino locations open to sports betting as of today in Massachusetts.

Encore Boston Harbor

Those traveling to Encore Boston will find the WynnBet Sportsbook on the 1st floor of the casino. After Jan. 31, the sportsbook will open from 9 a.m. to midnight. Customers must be 21 to place bets, and the sportsbook is only accepting cash. 

The sportsbook features several amenities, including:

• Eight sports betting windows with live tellers
• 118 kiosks throughout the casino (some open 24/7)
• Over 70 televisions, including a 10-foot-high and 123-foot-long video wall
• Full-service bar
• Shake Shack
• Frank & Nick’s

Plainridge Park

Over at Plainridge Park, customers watched New England Patriots legend Rob Ninkovich place the first bet at the temporary Barstool Sportsbook Tuesday.

Currently, the Barstool Sportsbook at Plainridge Park still comes with a “temporary” tag. State regulators are still investigating PENN Entertainment due to its relationship with Barstool Sports. 

The sportsbook will have five betting windows and 18 self-service kiosks. However, once a permanent Barstool Sportsbook & Restaurant is complete, the space will house 20 kiosks and six betting windows.

Like WynnBet, customers must be 21 years or older to place bets. 

MGM Springfield

Finally, Mayor Domenic Sarno and Boston hockey legend Ray Bourque joined those in Springfield over at the BetMGM Sportsbook on Tuesday morning.

At the BetMGM Sportsbook, customers can access 18 kiosks and eight point-of-sale terminals. There are two state-of-the-art lounges and a betting area inside its TAP Sports Bar. 

Much like the other MA sportsbooks, customers must be 21 years or older to place bets.
