Fanatics Welcomes Guests To Sample FedEx Field Sportsbook

The first-ever physical Fanatics Sportsbook is nearly ready to roll. To wrap up preparations at its FedEx Field sportsbook, Fanatics is asking for the assistance of Marylanders and others around the DMV area.

Fanatics is holding two test periods for its Maryland sports betting operations at the stadium in order to satisfy state regulations. It’s a great chance for NFL fans in the area to enjoy some type of postseason action at the venue this winter.

FedEx Field sportsbook announces testing windows

The Washington Commanders did not qualify for the NFL playoffs for the 2022-23 season. That doesn’t mean FedEx Field is going to be completely silent over the next week, however.

According to Fanatics Gaming CTO Ian Botts, people at least 21 years of age are welcome to check out the Fanatics Sportsbook at the stadium from noon to 8 p.m. local time on two separate occasions. The dates are Thursday, Jan. 12, and Tuesday, Jan. 17.

During those windows, patrons will be able to place actual bets. The point of the events is to test the sports betting software and other systems at the book to ensure everything is in
compliance with Maryland law.

Provided everything goes well, Fanatics plans to hold a grand opening at the book on Jan. 20 at 10 a.m. That will take care of the physical aspect of Fanatics’ sports betting operations in the state. Marylanders could still be wondering when the online portion will be available, though.

When will Fanatics’ app be ready?

To date, Fanatics is still keeping all information about when Fanatics might launch online in Maryland pretty close to the vest. The only semblance of a time frame the company has announced for its app is sometime in 2023.

A lot is currently unknown about the app, despite the fact that Fanatics also has license approval in Ohio and is seeking the same in Massachusetts. What is known, however, is that Fanatics plans to use a proprietary system developed by Amelco.

While they await the online product, Marylanders can get a taste of what Fanatics brings to FedEx Field this week. The numbers will bear out whether Maryland residents are fanatical about the sportsbook.
