Breaking Down Boyd Gaming’s New B Connected Players Club

Written By Marc Meltzer on August 29, 2018Last Updated on July 6, 2022

Boyd Gaming club Boyd Rewards has upped the ante. The national casino players club has new reward tiers and new benefits for customers at Boyd Gaming casinos in Las Vegas and around the country.

Many large casino players clubs have evolved into traditional loyalty clubs for the entire casino and resort. In these cases, guests are rewarded with points for all money spent on site. Some casino loyalty clubs, like Caesars Entertainment Total Rewards, even offer customers the opportunity to earn points outside of the casino. That’s not the case with B Connected.

B Connected remains a true casino players club and only rewards players, more commonly known as gamblers. Guests are only rewarded for money spent gambling. Points cannot be earned from spending in restaurants, spas or with other amenities. However, guests may redeem for FastPlay (Boyd’s version of free play), dining, shopping or hotel stays.

One of the best benefits for any tier level at B Connected is the dining with points discount. Guests save 40 percent on the dollar value of B Connected Points when the points are redeemed for food. B Connected points are redeemed at the following rate:

Food Redemption: 600 B Connected Points = $1.00
FastPlay: 1,000 B Connected Points = $1.00
Retail Purchases: 1,000 B Connected Points = $1.00

Like most other casino players clubs, B Connected points expire after six months of inactivity.

Earning B Connected club points and credits

B Connected credits and points are earned at Boyd Gaming casinos at the followin
g rate when you play slots, video poker, table games, bingo, poker or sports betting.

  • Tier credits: 1 point per $5 spent
  • Reward points: 1 point per $1 spent

Tier Credits are reset at the start of every year on Jan. 1. The number of Tier Credits on Dec. 31 of that year determines the actual tier for the following year. On Jan. 1, guests begin earning Tier Credits for the following year.

New B Connected Tier Levels

The biggest change guests see with B Connected is the new tier system. The new B Connected has five tiers – Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Onyx and Titanium. B Connected previously had three public tiers. Titanium is entirely new and Onyx was previously only available to guests by invite.

Each B Connected Tier provides better levels of rewards based on play in the casinos. Guests may move up to a higher tier by playing more and earning more Tier Credits. The higher the tier, the greater the rewards. Here’s a breakdown of how many Tier Credits a player must earn each year to climb tiers.

  • Ruby: Guests are automatically enrolled in the Ruby Tier when signing up with B Connected.
  • Sapphire: Earn 750 Tier Credits annually to achieve our Sapphire Tier.
  • Emerald: Earn 15,000 Tier Credits annually to achieve our Emerald Tier.
  • Onyx: Earn 50,000 Tier Credits annually to achieve our Onyx Tier.
  • Titanium: Earn 200,000 Tier Credits annually to achieve our Titanium Tier

Notable Boyd Gaming club changes

The new B Connected features two very notable changes. The first change, and most important to the majority of Boyd Gaming customers, is that the entry-level Ruby does not earn reward points for money spent. Only Sapphire guests and above receive reward points per dollar spent. Frequent guests shouldn’t have a problem reaching Sapphire but new customers might be burned by that.

The other notable change is the addition of new partners. Sapphire members and above receive an annual benefit at Baha Mar in the Bahamas. Emerald members and above receive an annual benefit with Holland America Line Cruises. These same members receive a quarterly stay in Las Vegas. Here’s the full list of B Connected Tier benefits.

B Connected locations

B Connected is available in Las Vegas at Aliante, California, Fremont, Gold Coast, Main Street Station, The Orleans, Sam’s Town and Suncoast. Cannery and Eastside Cannery in Las Vegas are not B Connected casinos even though they’re owned by Boyd Gaming.

The Boyd Gaming club is also at the following locations around the United States:

  • Louisiana at Amelia Belle, Delta Downs, Evangeline Downs, Sam’s Town Shreveport and Treasure Chest
  • Illinois at Par-A-Dice
  • Indiana at Blue Chip
  • Iowa at Diamond Jo Worth
  • Mississippi at Sam’s Town Tunica and IP Biloxi

Boyd Gaming says it plans to roll out the B Connected program at additional properties nationwide in early 2019. Expect Valley Forge Casino in Pennsylvania to be high on the list of new casinos.
