Aria Casino Las Vegas Hosts 2024 BetMGM Poker Championship

The Las Vegas summer poker scene continues to grow. In addition to the World Series of Poker (WSOP) at Horseshoe and Paris, there will be poker tournaments in casinos throughout Las Vegas.

The latest live poker event comes as an addition to the 2024 Aria Poker Classic on the Vegas Strip. The BetMGM Poker Championship will return to Aria for a second consecutive year.

The short poker tournament runs from Friday, June 9 through Tuesday, June 13 in Aria’s Poker Room during the Aria Poker Classic.

The buy-in for the BetMGM Poker Championship is $3,500 – the same as last year. However, the guaranteed prize pool has doubled for the BetMGM Poker Championship this year. There will be $2 million in prizes for the competitors.

The final table on June 13 will take place in the PokerGO Studio and be live-streamed.

Qualifying online for BetMGM Poker Championship at Aria Casino

This year the BetMGM Poker Championship will include no less than 100 online players from the US and Canada. Beginning May 1, BetMGM online poker players in New Jersey,
Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Ontario, Canada will have the chance to qualify to play in the tournament in Las Vegas.

BetMGM Poker online qualifiers will win packages that include:

  • $3,500 buy-in for the BetMGM Poker Championship
  • $800 buy-in for the Mystery Bounty event
  • Travel expenses and a six-night Aria stay from June 7-13, 2024

Luke Staudenmaier, Director of Poker for BetMGM says:

“It’s great to bring BetMGM players back to Las Vegas during one of poker’s most exciting times of the year. For a second straight year, ARIA is delivering a Championship event and we are happy to continue to build on our relationship with MGM Resorts while connecting BetMGM online players to the best poker rooms in the United States.”

There have been rumors about the BetMGM online poker room opening for Nevada residents for more than a year. That doesn’t appear to be happening in time for the BetMGM Poker Championship.

BetMGM said “no comment” when Playin USA asked when Nevada residents will be able to play in its online poker room. At least Las Vegas residents can visit Aria to participate in cash games and regular tournaments.

The company recently received its 13th waiver on opening an online poker room in Nevada. The WSOP website is currently the only online poker room for players in Nevada.

More summer poker events at Las Vegas casinos

Summer is the live poker season in Las Vegas. The WSOP gets most of the publicity as it’s the longest-running poker event in Las Vegas. There are more cash game and tournament options at casinos throughout Las Vegas.

Wynn Las Vegas is home to the Wynn Summer Classic this summer. This event begins on May 25 and runs through July 19. This year the series will have $28 million in guaranteed prizes. One of the highlights of this year’s tournament is the three-day $3,500 No-Limit Hold’em event. This has a $4 million guaranteed prize pool.

In downtown Las Vegas, the Golden Nugget hosts the Grand Poker Series between May 30-July 3. The series features 89 events with more than $3 million in guaranteed prize money.

Details on more poker tournaments in Las Vegas are expected for casinos on and off Vegas Strip.
