Ocean Resort Expanding Sports Offerings With FastFantasy
Gaming company SportAD will soon offer its products at Ocean Resort Casino. In a press release, the developer announced that it is partnering with the Atlantic City casino to bring its FastFantasy game to the former Revel.
“We are thrilled to provide FastFantasy’s games to Ocean Resort’s sportsbook and i-gaming operations,” said CEO Joe Brennan, Jr. “Given the excitement at the casino’s June 28th launch, the opportunity of regulated sports betting in New Jersey is outstanding.
This partnership is the second in Atlantic City for SportAD. FastFantasy launched at Resorts Atlantic City in May 2017 under the name FastPick.
What is FastFantasy?
FastFantasy is a hybrid game that combines elements of both sports betting and daily fantasy sports. In fact, it is a fantasy parlay wager.
SportAD selects a host of matchups between various athletes. Players must select 3 to 10 of these matches to constitute a wager. In order to win, the player must correctly guess which athlete in each pairing will score more fantasy points.
When it launched last year at Resorts, observers wondered if the game would con flict with the UIGEA. In other words, would law enforcement classify the game as sports betting, rather than daily fantasy sports?
Thankfully, the Supreme Court decision to strike down PASPA in May rendered the argument moot. Whether FastFantasy is legally daily fantasy sports or sports betting is irrelevant – both are legal in New Jersey.
FastFantasy should inject cash into Ocean Resort
The partnership is a no-brainer for the brand-new Ocean Resort Casino. The pressure to recoup construction costs as soon as possible is likely tremendous, so FastFantasy is a perfect solution.
Here’s why: SportAD touts the game to properties as exactly what it is – a high-margin gaming platform. The parlay aspect means that players will not win their bets very often.
Yet the game retains its players quite well. After 90 days of play, 28 percent of players continued to wager on FastPick.
Since launching at Resorts, FastPick has enjoyed an average bet of $24 per entry. The game has held a whopping 33 percent of its handle.
Even more hair-raising is the fact that so few players withdraw from playing FastFantasy. By the company’s own admission, players cash out less than seven percent of deposits.
FastFantasy also appeals strongly to younger players. Three out of 4 players are under the age of 45.
So, the game will be good for the casino now and in the future. In fact, this game may be the first to appeal to the new generation of gamblers.
Who is SportAD?
SportAD is a Washington D.C.-based gaming developer that refers to itself as “early-stage.” It began its life in 2015, but already has offices in D.C., Las Vegas, and London.
Its core business surrounds these head-to-head athlete matches at the center of FastFantasy. Though it offers many variants, the basic parlay game is at the heart of its platform.
